How We Can Help You
All of our Therapists have a passion for people; they are committed to helping you by supporting you through your emotional turmoil. You will be offered a safe place to talk in absolute confidence, and you will be listened to. Not just listened to, but you will be heard and your feelings validated. Emotional Therapy is centred on the feelings and the original hurt, and we do this by using some unique techniques to help you to find the words to be able to talk about painful events that have happened to you in your life. We will help you to realise the patterns of behaviour that you have developed as part of your survival, from your personal life experiences.
If you have been feeling persistently unhappy, depressed, anxious, unable to cope with a long term situation, or struggling in a relationship, or relating to others, there is no time like the present. We understand that it is a brave decision for you to take that first step by getting in touch, but we are here to support you through your journey of self discovery and your personal recovery to live a fulfilling life.
Our Therapeutic Counsellors are trained to the highest standards and subscribe to the Code of Conduct and Ethics of the National Counselling Society which requires commitment to ongoing training and supervision.
What should I be looking for when choosing a Counsellor?
Check the Counsellor holds accredited training, is a member of an accredited organisation, keeps up to date with regular continuing professional development, has regular supervision and holds current malpractice insurance. Most importantly, you need to feel comfortable with your Counsellor, since the Counsellor/client relationship is vital to successful therapy.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different and the number of sessions varies considerably. You should know after two or three sessions if this type of counselling is the one for you.
Do all your Counsellors work in the same way?
All practising members of the Foundation follow the process of Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and will have undergone comprehensive training. In addition, many members have trained in other counselling methods and holistic therapies and may bring these skills to enhance our integrative approach.
How is Emotional Therapeutic Counselling different from other forms of counselling?
Whilst ours is a talking therapy, we also use various tools to help a person recognise, acknowledge and deal with repressed or supressed emotional blocks. We believe that the mind, body and spirit are of equal importance, and that our emotional wellbeing is the key to a contented, fulfilling life.
How much do sessions cost?
This can vary, so its always best to get in touch to ask any questions that you may have. Many of our Counsellors offer an initial consultation free of charge, as this offers the client the opportunity to ask questions and to see if they feel comfortable with the Counsellor.
